In a plain-Jane strip shopping center is a coffee shop that sprouted in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1987 and quickly grew across state lines. The reason might be that all the regular stores roast coffee in-house in small drum roasters and sell it within three days to ensure freshness. The coffees made from those roasted, single-origin beans are myriad and include everything from an espresso-based Americano and Cappuccino to the house regular and double-shot brewed Depth Charge. However, not all the popular drinks are all bean. The Chocolate Steamed Nirvana is a blend of coffee extract, chocolate and hazelnut with steamed milk and cream. The Light Lattes, made with skim milk and flavored syrup, are less than 200 calories. When winter blows in, the hot apple cider comes out.
