Beatbox rapper Doug E. Fresh started work on his Harlem restaurant three years ago, but financial difficulties hindered its opening, but now the jazzy corner location has doors flung wide. The specialty is chicken and waffles, a combo invented in the 1930s by Well"s, which was located nearby and served as an inspiration. The chicken is great, but the waffles taste of artificial maple flavoring, which probably won"t bother most folks. The available sides are exactly what you"d expect, and fried fish or shrimp may be substituted for chicken. Other types of chicken are also available, including a very good of curried chicken.
