Description
When Leo and Oliver Kremer came from the Bay Area to New York City, they found the burrito scene a little lackluster. Instead of complaining, they set up shop near Union Square, where they started selling giant San Francisco-style burritos in an upscale fast-food setting. The menu is simple and straightforward: burritos, tacos and quesadillas stuffed with either carnitas, grilled chicken, steak or rice and beans, plus a healthy serving of cheese, salsa and sour cream (guacamole is available for a little extra).
Organic beans, locally raised and hormone-free chicken, and biodegradable utensils beckon the eco-friendly diner. Lunch is the most crowded time, with workers on break lining up for take-out and a few stragglers relaxing on the seats made of thickset reclaimed wood. At night, enjoy the more laid-back atmosphere with a cold Negra Modelo or Dos Equis.—Keith Wagstaff
