The original Dooley’s closed its downtown doors in 2008. Sean Dooley, son of founder Alex Dooley, ran the restaurant in its final ten years, and he returns to open its reincarnation, in Grand Center, right across from the Fox Theatre. The new Dooley’s is equipped with the old Dooley’s grill (now that is continuity for you) and, more to the point, with the same secret recipe for the “World Famous Dooley Burger.” Said burger remains the simplest of gustatory pleasures: grill char and juicy beef. Optional cheese toppings are of the soft-spread variety; the onion rings are excellent. The menu contains a smattering of non-burger items, but you wouldn’t order a popsicle at Ted Drewes, would you?
