Description

Facing the Flagler Dog Track on Douglas Road, Don Camaron is instantly recognizable by its logo of lone mustached shrimp lounging as if he hasn't a care in the world. You'd think he would, considering his friends and neighbors are served by the plateful to hoards of hungry customers. Any day of the week, expect a full house at this local favorite. Don Camaron's varied menu consists of several seafood options, and a few selections for those who don't enjoy the catch of the day. You can start your maritime adventure with fish croquettes ($2.75), fried calamari ($6.95), or shrimp cocktail ($8.95). Entrées include fish, lobster, shrimp, but, surprisingly, no crab. Unlike Red Lobster, Don Camaron serves several different kinds of fish - salmon, tilapia, dolphin, grouper, snapper, sword fish, and marlin. Fish entrees ($9.95 to $13.95) come with rice, plantains, or French fries. Lobster tail (market price) can be ordered al ajillo (in garlic sauce), broiled, grilled, or enchilada (in a tomato-based stew). Round out your meal with the house specialty, Bahama mama, a pineapple and coconut-rum sponge cake.
