At the risk of sounding grandiose, Doc & Eddy's is one of the quintessential neighborhood sports bars in the entire Valley, possessing all the amenities that make a jock joint great. There aren't many seats in the house without excellent views of multiple TVs, allowing throngs of rabid fans who gather here (including both ASU supporters and members of the Steeler Nation) to witness the exploits of their favorite teams while simultaneously keeping tabs on several other games of interest. Food and drink specials are also plentiful, like the $2 domestic bottles and $5.25 pitchers available during the daily happy hour, which are guaranteed to keep you satisfied even if the bums are losing. But if you're not into all the athletic action, D&E's offers plenty of other diversions, ranging from a dozen regulation-size pool tables and air hockey to video games and a weekly team trivia night to challenge your pop culture intellect. Whether you're a die-hard fan or just along for the ride, this south Tempe sports haven definitely has all the bases covered.
Within walking distance therefore... MY BAR
Great place to grab a drink. Happy hour rocks and the wings are tasty!
CatCalls2010 Doc & Eddy's is just sick and tired. This joint had the WORST tables I've ever encountered. And that's saying quite a bit. Ripped felt, bumps, broken pockets, lousy cue sticks, astonishingly high prices, dull bumpers, failing pockets, worn, chipped balls, tables too close....the absolutely WORST pool I've encountered, ever. The rest of the joint? Bad service, dirty bar, old food sitting out, an "invisible" manager, musty tap shortpours, clearly funky mixer lines, high prices, questionable customer base and unanswered Better Business Bureau complaints. This cat calls Doc & Eddy's sick and tired.
Trivia nights at bars are opportunities to prove to your friends that you're good at one of two things: drinking or trivia. Doc & Eddy's offers the chance to do both in fine fashion. Thursday nights at Doc & Eddy's is like Jeopardy! for drunks, complete with a pushy host who doesn't hesitate to toss contestants out for looking up answers on their cell phones. The beer is cheap, but if you win at trivia it doesn't matter, because you get a $50 bar tab, which is more than enough to... More »
Tempe probably has five of the 10 best sports bars in the Valley, so picking just one spot is a challenge. Luckily, Doc & Eddy's has a little bit of everything, making it easy to justify our choice here. It's just dive-y enough to feel homey, but with clean and plentiful restrooms, varied seating options, good service, and great food. It always seems to be just busy enough -- never dead or overcrowded -- and we enjoy the fact that the pool hall and game area doesn't feel... More »
Tucked inconspicuously behind a Bank of America at the northeast corner of Rural and Baseline roads is this friendly neighborhood sports bar, where twenty- and thirtysomethings, college kids and working professionals, singles and couples, and sports fans and the happy hour crowd peacefully co-exist over cheap grub and tap beers. The main attraction is the huge outdoor misted patio, where large wooden tables that easily seat 15 people surround the trunks of olive trees, making friendly banter... More »
