Remember your first college dinner party? The menu wasn't totally cohesive, but you all brought beer and listened to the coolest music over communal plates of grub. Do or Dine, a quirky new spot in Bed-Stuy, is the restaurant take on those halcyon days. Fried fare abounds: Try the tasty Nippon nachos, wasabi-spiked shumai, and the famed foie gras doughnut, which stuffs whipped goose liver mousse and Polaner apricot preserves inside a fluffy golden doughnut from nearby bakery Dough. Entrees and desserts, however, are more sedate and occasionally falter. Still, the restaurant offers a refreshing change from the usual roast chicken-filled diningscape.

    It would be easy to dismiss the foie gras donut at experimental Bed-Stuy newcomer Do or Dine as gimmicky. In truth, it is. But a forgivable one, once you actually experience the genius that is goose liver mousse stuffed inside of a lightly powdered donut from nearby bakery Dough.
