Description

While the intimate-sounding "American Kitchen & Wine Bar" tag won't fool anyone into thinking District is some kind of funky foodie destination - the wine list isn't distinctive, the menu doesn't stray into innovation - there are impressive details that defy expectations, like boutique ingredients and local produce. Keep this place in mind if you're looking for a decent downtown dinner, but steer clear of the lunch rush unless you're craving mediocre, overpriced sandwiches.

A friend of ours is in love, and it's not with a girl or even with his cat. No, this guy is besotted with District, the swanky restaurant bar at the downtown Sheraton. We're perpetually stunned when we walk into District, the sleek bar at Phoenix's newest downtown hotel, and see that it's packed with revelers. Because District is situated inside the new downtown Sheraton, it's expected that hotel guests would eat here. But interestingly enough, the restaurant seems to be going after locals, too, with a comfort-food menu that name-drops plenty of local purveyors and gives creative twists to American standards.
