It's tough for a place to be dedicated to cheesesteaks in Denver -- 2,000 miles away from where this sandwich was invented, but not so far away that people don't know what a true cheesesteak is supposed to taste like. Almost inevitably, this town's versions don't stand up to the Philadelphia original, and Denver Ted's is no exception. There's never enough cheese to lubricate the meat, and often that meat is chewy (meaning overcooked) or tasteless. And while the buns are imported from the Amoroso bakery in Pennsylvania and there's Whiz on offer here and everyone swears up and down that these are the closest cheesesteak cousins to those done on the streets of the City of Brotherly Love, we think Denver Ted's has staked out the wrong streets.
