Westword's Description

Tocabe is the brainchild of Ben Jacobs, a member of the Osage tribe who's lived here since he was a kid, went into the restaurant biz at fifteen and still managed college (majoring in history and Native American studies). Then he spotted a hole in Denver's tattered skein of ethnic and international cuisines and went after it with his whole heart, collecting recipes from his past to fit a fast-casual Native American concept. It was a great idea, and Tocabe is a great spot, serving up inexpensive meals that start with one of the true culinary breakthroughs of the New World: fry bread.

I walked in not expected to eat American Indian food and it was awesome! Don't expect to eat tacos like Chipotle! You'll be happily surprised.

Being a native American myself, it has always been frustrating to have to wait for the March pow-wow to satisfy my craving for delicious fry bread. Now, All i have to do is walk four blocks and there I am....In fry bread heaven! I recommend the Little Osage Pizza, though there is nothing little about it.

I decided to try something I have always wanted to try at the Pow Wow conventions every year but the lines practically wrap around the building. The staff was super friendly, the beer was ice cold and cheap at happy hour prices, the food was tasty! These folks are also concerned about the environment so they use all green products like, forks, plates, cups made from corn, etc.... More >>
