The Truffle Table
Denver, CO 80211
When Rob and Karin Lawler opened the doors to the Truffle Table in the summer of 2013, in the Highland home of what had been the Cellar Wine Bar, they knew that cheese admirers from across Denver would sniff them out. That’s because the Lawlers also own the Truffle Cheese Shop on East Sixth Avenue, and the possibility of enjoying the shop's cheeses with the right wines was irresistible to fans. So is the charming triangular space, with its elevated ceilings, weathered wooden floors, marble-topped community table and narrow outdoor patio – the perfect spot for watching the passing parade. "The beauty of the space is that all the bones were here, so we really didn't have to do much at all in terms of renovations," says Karin. But the menu is all new, with guests given a list of the cheeses that the restaurant carries on any given day, along with notes on each one. And to complement them, there’s charcuterie, as well as that incredible wine list, a well-conceived roster of sparklers, reds and whites, all but one available by the glass.
Tips from foursquare
Trust the wait staff to select your meats and cheeses, they know what they are doing, also try the butter sampler.
Let your cheesemonger guide you, they make great recommendations!
The azeitao cheese was our personal favorite.
