Westword's Description

Jelly, which opened early in 2011, was packed from the start...and that popularity shows no signs of abating. This hip Capitol Hill spot is almost always jammed at breakfast and brunch -- so don't be surprised when the hostess tasked with crowd control says you have at least thirty minutes to kill before your table is ready. Instead, make a break for the bar and order a round while you examine the vintage cereal boxes mounted on the walls, the coffee-and-donut menu posted above the bar, and the hungover hipsters packed into the booths and tables in the back of the dining room. Jelly owners Christina Smith and Josh Epps, veterans of the San Francisco restaurant scene, were right when they thought they saw a gap in Denver's breakfast culture. And their board of creative takes on breakfast items is worth the wait it commands.

Hipster Swag With Food That Delivers

The first thing that strikes you about this place is the décor. It's all about Americana and nostalgia. Unique, old-school cereal boxes, such as Mr. T and Breakfast With Barbie, hang from the walls like trophies in a child's imagination. The playful ornamentation sets the mood for fun. It's OK to play with your food here!

Don't miss the homemade drop biscuits -- just the thing to slather with Jelly's house made seasonal jelly!

In Cap Hill are Jelly's sadly-not-smokeable hashes, including the unimpeachable Red Flannel, a brightly colored plate packed with beets, bacon, onions, and all topped by with two eggs.

Hip breakfast and lunch joint. Try the pancakes with crumbled bacon (yes, really) for breakfast and the deviled egg salad sandwich for lunch. Entrees $7-$10. "More Info" for review:

All the food is made from scratch - this place is great. And I am not just saying that because I am mayor (yet very proud to be mayor)!!

The only thing better than the food is the cased old school cereal boxes on the wall. #nicetouch
