The experience is a good one, but be forewarned if you go on a busy night. We went on Sat the 29th, 2011, paid our $15 and waited in line for an hour. The line wasn't moving. The experience is a good one, but be forewarned if you go on a busy night. We went on Sat the 29th, 2011, paid our $15 and waited in line for an hour. The line wasn't moving. Talked to the lady at the ticket counter and she explained that due to past injuries within the haunted house, the fire department allows only four people at a time into the house now. The small groups are great, but it takes a long time to get to the front. If you have a larger group than four, know that you WILL without question have to split up. Groups of two or three also go through; they do not pair up smaller groups because apparently people don't want to go through with strangers, which is fine but it adds to the slow pace of the line. We upgraded our tickets to VIP ($7 more) and went to the left side of the line up towards the front, where we waited another 45 mins to get in. Those still waiting in line, I suspect waited at least three hours to get through. I wish I had known this before going. I would have gotten the VIP tix right away, and/or gone at a different time or night that was less busy. That said, the various rooms were interesting and diverse and the actors do give a good scare.
Tips from foursquare
Kinda fun, if you're too poor and ugly to go to Elitch Gardens.
keep walkin up to RedRocksChurch if u want a REAL church unafraid to get deep & not remain at surface-level stuff week in & week out. & looks can be deceiving... it's more than what meets the eye. ;)
If you ride the Alpine Slide - take the fast lane!
There's plenty of free parking at Heritage Square. I like the old fashioned photo store, cotton candy and of course the FAST lane on the Alpine Slide! It offers a great view of Golden down below.
Riding the Alpine Slide is a must!! Most of the games in the arcade are broken and don't work properly. Don't waste your money on them.
