Smack dab in the middle of a 66-acre garden is another garden, this one a garden of edible delights. Attached to the DeGoyler Mansion, the Garden Café has a lunch-focused menu. Among the highlights are the daily chef's special, a tea sandwich plate that includes the traditional cucumber and a bevy of healthy fare. All the dishes are affordable, especially the rotating assortment of homemade desserts. If the tea sandwiches didn't tip you off, high tea is an event at the DeGoyler Garden Café, but so are wines by the glass and cheese plates. For meals with a view, diners sit on the loggia overlooking White Rock Lake, perhaps with some live classical music touching their ears.
