You'll want to check your inhibitions and pretensions at the door of DD's Irish Pub & Karaoke (formerly the Double D Lounge), but don't be surprised that this mid-county karaoke haven ain't the dive it used to be. After moving down Brentwood into a bigger, brighter space with a scenic view of Whole Foods, it's not a complete smoke-bomb anymore, and (fast-moving) entry lines form on weekend nights. DD's still entertains a mixed-age, casual crowd, which means sorority girls and cougars alike tongue the mic and their $1 jello shots.
Selecting Riverfront Times' Best of St. Louis 2012 wasn't easy. Choosing the winner meant several worthy candidates would go unmentioned -- until now. In this RFT Music series, we're beeboping and sca... More »

For some, karaoke is simply another line item in the litany of embarrassing things that happen when blood-alcohol levels get a bit off-kilter. But there's an entire subculture of bar-dwelling aural sadomasochists who thrive off of ear-splitting renditions of Hall and Oates' greatest hits. And from the moment they flip that first laminated page in the very official three-ring binder, the mission is clear: Find a crowd-pleasing song that flatters your home-trained vocal chords, and try to not... The idea of being a bartender is romantic, like something out of an old movie--the bartender thoughtfully polishing highball glasses and dispensing advice, making it seem as though mixing drinks and emptying ashtrays is effortless. This lovely moment will probably never be brought to you by Double D's. Not that we don't love it here--heck, it's our choice for "Best Neighborhood Bar (Mid-County)"--but it's loud, and packed. Slinging drinks here is a feat all on its own, but when... More »
If Slo Tom's, winner in the "City" division of this very category, is the bastard cousin of Cheers, the Double D is its antithesis--but again, in a good way. After a hard day at the office, some of us are looking for nothing more or less than a dark room where not only does no one know our name, but no one's liable to ask, either. There are times in a person's life--oh, say five-times-fifty times a year--when the only thing that'll do is a shot, a beer and a tray of peanuts.... More »
By far my favorite Karaoke Bar in town! Jello shots are $1, help yourself to the popcorn machine in the back! Always a hilarious time. Friday and Saturday nights can be very crowded and normally there is “one in one out” after 10pm, however the line seems to move very quick. My friends and I always have a blast at Double D’s.
For some great karaoke fun go the Double D's but be sure to get there early. Some nights they are 1 in 1 out by 9:30. Think of it as taylanas minus the disco balls and neon lights.
