Danton Nix isn't Cajun, but you'd never know it from his spot-on Cajun and Creole dishes at his namesake restaurant. Tucked into an unassuming building in the Museum District, Danton's always feels like your own secret discovery. Nights spent gulping down fresh Gulf oysters in the mahogany-paneled bar with an IPA or Sundays spent at its laid-back jazz brunches are some of the best dining experiences to be had in Houston. Try the oyster stew with tasso or the crawfish half-and-half for a taste of the Big Easy in the Bayou City.
From holiday classics like the Easter bunny and roast leg of lamb to Mexican-style brunch buffets and live bands, here's where to eat this Easter:Brunch Buffets: Cafe Chino 3285 Southwest Fwy. | 713-... More »
Lenten season is upon us. Many people have decided to give up something that they love in their lives, and most of the time that something ends up being food or drink. I'm talking about beer, chocolat... More »

The oysters alone win this award for Danton's. Served any way -- fried, Rockefeller or baked -- the fresh, plump, straight-out-of-the-Gulf oysters are a must-have. But the best way to enjoy them is to belly up to the bar and order a dozen raw on the half shell, especially on Oyster Mondays, when a dozen is half price. Danton's seemingly has broken the curse of its corner of Chelsea Market, and the freshness of the seafood combined with classic Cajun flavor and flair has much to do... More »
The oysters are expertly shucked and beautifully served on a tray full of ice with lemons and all the sauces. They'll give you puny ones under two-and-a-half inches if you want, but they will also accommodate those who like their oysters big -- ask for the sea monsters and you'll get oysters of three-and-a-half inches or more. The oysters are expertly shucked and beautifully served on a tray full of ice with lemons and all the sauces. They'll give you puny ones under two-and-a-half inches if you want, but they will also accommodate those who like their oysters big — ask for the sea monsters and you'll get oysters of three-and-a-half inches or more. Danton's is a handsome seafood house on Montrose with whimsical decorations in the form of old fishing-camp photos that have been blown up and hung on the walls. The cozy little oyster bar has old-fashioned dark-stained woodwork that might remind you of the good old days of the Gulf Coast oyster saloon. Best of all, Danton's frequently runs happy hour specials on freshly shucked oysters at well below the regular price.
Went here on New Year's Eve. Classy place. Delish oysters (don't know about now what with the Spill). Cajun Bloody Mary was the best, tasted like gumbo.
Two local Houston boys who grew up fishing the Gulf Coast have opened the perfect place for gumbo, oysters, crawfish, remoulade and more. As it's in the museum district, the cozy bar makes for a nice bite and drink before or after any exhibit.
