Dallas Observer's Description

There are barbecue restaurants all over Dallas. The problem is finding a good one. Jack Perkins, who also runs Maple and Motor, decided the Design District was ready for smoked brisket, and now The Slow Bone turns out some of the city’s better barbecue. Don’t come here if you’re not enthusiastically hungry. The Slow Bone is no place for a snack. Load up a three-meat tray with brisket and a number of sausages and then do your best to sift through a seemingly endless array of side dishes. There are mustard greens studded with plenty of bacon and a sweet-potato casserole capped with brown sugar and pecans that eats like dessert. There’s macaroni and cheese with soft squishy noodles and plenty of dairy, and a Brussels sprouts casserole loaded with even more cheese. There are hushpuppies, cornbread salads and a tangy sauce that boasts plenty of heat. You won’t go home hungry. In fact, you’ll probably be skipping dinner.

Chicken is fair, Sauce is very good, Ribs have a nice sweet hint to them and great bite, taste and tenderness! Sides are ok. Brisket has way to much smoke! He can surely talk the talk but still needs improvement to walk... More >>

I was pretty hungry by this point, so I ordered a 3 Meat Platter: brisket, St. Louis ribs, and jalapeno bratwurst. For my sides, I settled on sweet potato casserole and mac n' cheese. They were... More >>
