Description

Dallas Observer's Description

The Library Bar sits on the ground floor of the historic Warwick Melrose Hotel in the Oak Lawn area, not far from downtown Dallas. Designated a Dallas Historic Landmark in 1983, the original apartment hotel was built in 1924. The Library Bar offers patrons a relaxing, dimly lit piano-bar environment in a laid-back library setting -- though at night, it's far too dark in The Library Bar to read any of the books lining the shelves. The bar specializes in wines and martinis and features a "wedding cake martini," which is a favorite among the regulars. It features live music every day of the week -- with the exception of Sundays -- so the library setting makes a great cozy place to unwind while sipping on a well-made drink. Some menu favorites include the five-spiced calamari salad with sweet Thai vinaigrette, the seared day-boat scallops with chorizo and preserve of lemon butter and the Global Cheese Plate & Charcuterie platter (local artisan cheeses, smoked Texas peppered salami and a menagerie of breads and crackers as well as mustard and fresh and dried fruit)

The corner rooms are spacious and have partial canopies

Accomplished artist Aubree Anna, recently featured in D Magazine, supplies hours of sophisticated, soulful entertainment.

  • Juicy Couture on 09/28/10

Step back into time at this piano lounge, and start sipping the popular Winning Mark, whiskey with Crème de Cassis and Chambord.

  • Hotel Tonight on 09/14/11

Library Bar oozes sophisticated glamour, making it a popular choice for post-work drinks or pre-party cocktails with friends.

  • Terrence C. on 06/14/10

Go on a Saturday night and listen to Aubree-Anna sing. Now I know why she was voted "Best Lounge Singer" in Dallas by D Magazine in 2009.
