Description

Dallas Observer's Description

This small intimate eatery has been open for more than 35 years. Chef/owner Brian C. Luscher and his general manager wife, Courtney, offer up a Francophile-pleasing menu with a twangy twist, e.g. their celebrated burger. Dinner options include the braised lamb "tartines," hushpuppies of roasted corn, jalapeños and crab as well as the bistro-standard steak frites. The Grape is also a favorite Sunday brunch spot for East Dallas residents. Up for grabs then are the famous cheeseburger, fried chicken biscuit and oxtail and banana peppers. It'd be tragic if the wine list weren't mentioned, which has wines from Chile to Italy and all points between. By the glass can be cheap ($8) or you can pony up and order a bottle.

Luscher features a Christmas Eve menu of "holiday inspired fare," as well as a price-fixed three-course... More >>

Brian Luscher doesn't let the fact that he makes one of Texas' finest burgers allow him to mail it in with the rest of his classy and classic menu. [Eater 38 Member]

This restaurant has repeatedly been awarded best Burger in Texas, (which if you think about it, is kind of hard to do here).

  • Theodore K. on 01/27/10

The Grape Burger, named best in Texas, is a must-eat!

  • The Feast on 06/12/11

Classic American fare by chef Brian Luscher in an intimate bistro setting. Brian's wife, Courtney, heads the wine program and has molded it into one of the best in town.
