Dallas Observer's Description

If a Mexican restaurant has been doing business in Dallas for more than 20 years, it's doing something right. And while Tejano's Aztec temple-inspired décor could use a touch-up, the food is everything it should be. Standouts include the hearty caldo de res, kind of like a floating pot roast, with huge, tender hunks of beef and cabbage, zucchini and other veggies in a clear beef broth; and the tender carnitas Tampiqueñas, slices of beef in a rich gravy.

Happy Hour Mon.-Fri. 4-7pm: Domestic bottle + regular draft beer $2; Import bottle beer + regular house margaritas $3; well drinks $2.50

This is El Tejano, under a new name with a redesigned menu. It's still the same folk at the same location though ya'll! And it's still great food!

My Friday night fave for YEARS!!!

  • Christy R. on 03/28/14

Pros: Fun atmosphere, mariachi, great service, good chips/salsa. Cons: Food lacks flavor, spice or something. Corazon margarita is positively awful, IMO.

  • Lori M. on 01/17/14

Happy hour is fun and drinks are really good!!! Staff makes you feel at home!
