  • Driving up to La Hacienda Ranch with my mom, all its theme-y ranchified decor made me think for a second that I might be walking into a strip club. I figured, what the hell—there's nothing like horking down a cheese enchilada with the woman who birthed you while someone sanitizes a herped-up stripper pole, amiright?

Turns out, there are no strippers performing at La...

  • Foremost among the many charms of Lucia, the homey Italian bistro that's riveted local food lovers since it opened in Oak Cliff late last year, is the restaurant's singularity. Eaters may swoon over chef David Uygar's expert salumi or front-of-the-house deaconess Jennifer Uygar's twinkle-eyed warmth, but neither food nor service can account for the multiple-week wait most diners seeking...

    01/29/13

Bone Daddy's has been on my to-do list for a while now. It wasn't until recently, however, that I discovered it's basically the Hooters of barbecue. Based on other reviews I've read, I was expecting a long wait at dinner. That might be true for bigger groups, but since I was solo, I was able to climb right up onto a barstool with no wait at all.

  • TheBarbecueFiend TheBarbecueFiend wrote a review for Hoffbrau Steaks

    01/19/13

Hoffbrau is pretty much your average steakhouse, but the atmosphere and the service could have been better. The hostess seated us at a small table wedged into a corner right next to the kitchen and restrooms, so it didn't exactly scream romance. We could also hear the constant screech of chairs on the second floor above us.

    The fried pickles were...
