Description

Dallas Observer's Description

Sleek with an earthy atmosphere solidified by a rock wall and wood, Rise No. 1 favors the Francophile with a nod to the slow food movement. There are soufflés aplenty, including escargot and Grand Marnier, a rotating cheese plate and surprises such as marshmallow soup. But soufflés are where owner Hedda Gioia Dowd and executive chef Cherif Brahmi stake their claim. The Inwood Village bistro welcomes all, even hosting birthday parties for the under-12 set that include cooking demonstrations and the chance to cook alongside the restaurant's chefs.

Tips from foursquare

  • Eater on 10/05/11

A restaurant dedicated to sweet, sweet (and savory, savory) fluffy pastries, Rise No. 1 also serves magnifique salads and classic French entrees. [Eater 38 Member]

  • Gordon B. on 03/19/10

The best meal & best service I've had in a long time. Seating is a little "cozy". Get the marshmallow soup (really it's a creamy tomato basil) while you wait for your soufflé.

  • Roddy K. on 05/31/10

Order the "Special" with crab meat (its always one of the specials) - veeeeery good! Don't forget your quote when you leave!

  • Elizabeth S. on 07/20/13

SKIP the marshmallow soup and do the cheese cart instead for starters. Go for the truffle and mushroom soufflé and the strawberry soufflé for dessert.

  • Oh Hey Dallas on 07/15/12

The cheese cart can do no wrong!!
