Dallas Observer's Description
The Design District’s latest in fine dining brings a world of tastes to hungry diners looking for elevated plates that don’t break the bank. Moroccan, Spanish and Austrian flavors dance with high-quality ingredients in a space that’s formal enough for a special date, yet comfortable enough to enjoy on a quiet weekday evening.
The bar, to which drinkers belly up for handcrafted cocktails and a bite, is faded off-white marble with thick streaks of green and red. Even when the dining room is sparse, the bar bustles with chatty bartenders and thirsty locals.
In the back of the restaurant a projection of an oak tree slowly shifts colors from lifelike green to purple and pink and red. It’s a good metaphor for the menu, which constantly shifts as new items are added, others are updated and some disappear forever. Be careful perusing the menu at Oak. Fail to order an enticing plate and you may never see it again.
Tips from foursquare
Drop by during the day for a delicious lunch of sashimi-grade yellowfin Nicoise (w/ quail eggs, haricot vert, Kalamatas, tonnato).
Between brunch, the cocktail program and the accessible-but-special dinner ambiance, Oak has been the talk since it opened. [Eater 38 Member]
You can't go wrong with anything you order!
Pork jowl.. possibly the best thing I've ever had... and the coconut sorbet. Oh my god. Do it. Don't ask questiond.
Fantastic food! Start with the octopus and then move to the lamb shanks and/or duck...great job. Red wine was warm, but other than that, excellent experience and we will be back!
