Dallas Observer's Description
Dallas has plenty of ultra-lounges and dive bars in its watering-hole repertoire, but the city didn't have an ice house-inspired bar to speak of. The owners of the Barley House and Bryan Street Tavern filled that niche with a Texas-centric ice house complete with nearly 30 Texas beers on draft and several newly bottled Texas whiskeys. As the name suggests, the bar is located just off the Katy Trail, and since it's relying on outdoorsy types to stay in business, it has one of the biggest, most colorful patios in town. If you need something to soak up all the Texas suds, the bar has a full menu that includes dark-beer venison chili -- what else would you expect from a roadhouse menu?
Tips from foursquare
The Katy Trail Ice House, see, they've opened this beer garden. And drunken biking is only a little bit illegal.
I was disappointed this wasn't a house made out of ice, like the one my friend Eyvindur let me stay in prior to my 3rd transcontinental dogsled race, until I remembered his place didn't have brisket.
Awesome location and concept - too bad the staff blows!
50 taps, concentrating on Texans like Rahr Bros., Franconia, Real Ale, Shiner, Pearl, 512, Live Oak, Independence, Thirsty Planet, St. Arnolds, Pearl, and Jester King, to name a few...
Amazing patio... Truly on the trail. And super dog friendly! Laid back great time, and great cheese fries too!
