Dallas Observer's Description
No-fuss, no-BS, Hunky's is heralded for its straightforward burgers, from the regular to the gussied-up guacamole cheddar with its guac, cheddar, jalapeño, tomato and mayo. Take them with a fried 'shrooms side with ranch dressing or tater tots. Not feeling the patty? Bite into a chili dog, a turkey-and-Swiss sandwich on wheat toast or a chicken cordon bleu sandwich at this Oak Lawn sibling of the Oak Cliff branch, luring patrons with neon signage and several veggie options -- though few can be called "healthy."
Hunky's is a wonderful place! Located in the heart of Oak Lawn, their original store is (new location as of 2010) located on the corner of Cedar Springs rd and Throckmorton, across the street from JR's and S4. Hunky's is a wonderful place! Located in the heart of Oak Lawn, their original store is (new location as of 2010) located on the corner of Cedar Springs rd and Throckmorton, across the street from JR's and S4. The atmosphere is kind of "new 1950's." The people, management, and staff are out of this world. Our church meets at Hunky's every Thursday night for a regular Fellowship outing. The management and staff have gone far out of their way to be as accomodating as possible. Honestly, I know of very few businesses in the world today that are so customer service oriented. The food is great. The variety is wonderful. And the price is moderate. (Not cheap, but by the same token, not at all expensive, eeither.) It's not McDonald's, but then the quality of the food and service account for the few extra dollars you will spend to eat there. They do have very reasonably priced daily specials as well. Whether you like traditional burgers and fries, or something more exotic, or even vegetarian, Hunky's menu can accomodate. They also have a great outdoor patio area with a great deal of seating for folks who may wish to enjoy the pleasant weather and/or people watching. (You can also smoke out on the patio.) The patio is also dog friendly. We LOVE Hunky's. I encourage EVERYONE to visit at least once. If you do, it will not be your last visit I assure you!
