Dallas Observer's Description

Brothers Roy and Key Furr opened the first Furr's restaurant in 1946 in New Mexico. A year later, the second one opened in Texas. While the company is now based in Dallas, the Furr's chain of restaurants hasn't stopped pleasing families and customers of all sorts with its cafeteria-style dining experience. Maybe that has something to do with the restaurant's emphasis on home-style cooking evidenced in menu favorites like maple-cinnamon-glazed ham, chicken-fried steak, meatloaf, the signature Furr's Classic Fried Chicken as well as ice-box pies and homey cobblers. It's not all meat at Furr's. There are popular cheese enchiladas and all manner of baked fish available. The side dishes further evoke a down-home sensibility with the likes of fried okra, greens, corn bread dressing and black-eyed peas.

The food was good or I was just hungry

  • Crystal on 03/25/12

Line service is a little less to be desired, but our server Jesus is real good.
