Description

Dallas Observer's Description

Folks pack out this East Dallas eatery for quality Mexican home cooking served fast and cheap. Others come for the late-night munchies, since Cuquita's kitchen is open into the wee hours every day except Tuesday. The hot, fresh salsa is a bracing complement to perfect chips. We especially liked the guiso de puerco, which consisted of chunks of tender pork roast served in a deep-red sauce of spicy ground peppers and onions. Chicken flautas were tasty but a bit greasy, and pollo en mole was richly flavored but would have been even better if they'd applied the sauce to something nobler than a chicken leg quarter. All in all, great value for quality cuisine. Brisk, friendly service.
