Dallas Observer's Description

Since 2000, Gabriela Pataro has been dishing out healthy meals in portions fitting of a café serving healthy meals, luring folks to her family-friendly neighborhood spot. The free Wi-Fi is certainly a big draw for the regulars who linger. But menu options like the pancakes made with a blend of flours and grains and the Peruvian chicken risotto are among the main attractions. Pataro's cafe isn't just kid-friendly in words or by the presence of high chairs. Fifteen percent of the kids' menu sales go to North Texas Food Bank's Food 4 Kids program, which provides children with backpacks containing food to eat when the young ones aren't in school. What's more, the kitchen will feed your dog the likes of doggie meatloaf on the patio replete with a bubbling multi-tiered fountain and a fireplace for cool nights.

Tips from foursquare

Try one of the great homemade soups!

  • Renee on 08/06/11

This place is overrated. The food is only OK and doesn't justify the snotty attitude. That said, the sangria is absolutely delicious.

  • Nancy V. on 06/10/12

Totally not worth the TERRIBLE service! Ask for a kids menu and see what I mean. The food takes up 1/10 of the page and the rest is rules on how you and kids need to behave in their cafe. Just 1 ex.

Food is decent but a bit over $$$

  • Josh F. on 06/12/10

Corn pudding is where it's at!
