Description

Dallas Observer's Description

The neighborhood might be a little sketchy, being on "the other side of the tracks" from The Shops at Park Lane and a short distance from NorthPark Center mall. This 'cue joint even sits next to the abandoned Cowboy Chicken, yet it has persisted since 1975. It might have something to do with the Dallas police department squad cars parked outside, as officers enjoy the cafeteria-style offerings. No matter. Once inside, Greenville Avenue fades into memory, thanks to the bric-a-brac interior filled with Texas and sports memorabilia. Back Country's menu runs the standard smoked-meat line of brisket, sausage, ribs, ham, chicken, etc., which can be combined with the traditional sides like beans and greens for meat combos. Burgers, po-boys, chili and various pies are also available.
