Sister restaurant to LarkCreekSteak next door in the Westlake San Francisco Centre, Cupola was designed by local starchitect Cass Calder Smith, with black walls covered in intricate glyphs and lipstick-red, glossy tables. The kitchen puts out a range of salads and pastas – a roasted chicken tortellini, butternut squash ravioli – as well as pulled-to-order mozzarella. Made in the classic Neapolitan model, the pizzas have fat, bubbled rims, occasionally blistered a little too heavily in the wood-fired oven, and toppings applied with the precision of a master tailor chalking up a new suit.
