Culture in Park Slope treats frozen yogurt as a fine craft. The shop’s natural, intense product has developed a cultish following who appreciate the foodie take on fro-yo. Culture makes the fresh yogurt on site, and there is a focused menu of typically four varieties. But flavors change frequently, and Culture tweets flavors of the day @cultureny. The original recipe is always offered, and the Nutella flavor appears often, but seasonal and specialty flavors crop up, like blood orange, white chocolate, cherry pistachio, or black currant. Culture is generous with toppings, which range from gourmet basics like fruit, nuts, raw honey, and crumbles to more complex creations like the key lime pie or strawberry balsamic. In addition to fresh and frozen yogurt, there are cookies and muffins for sale and Culture pours Stumptown Coffee. We have always considered frozen yogurt to be to ice cream what cupcakes are to cake: a food that is turning New York into a convincing facsimile of a suburban mall and largely lacking in purpose or character.
