Crave is one of the top purveyors of gourmet cupcakes in Houston, though the market has gotten more saturated since the trend hit its stride. Traditional flavors like red velvet, chocolate and vanilla are offered alongside more creative options like Nutella and espresso, and flavors of the day rotate in and out of the showcases. Prices are steeper than what you'd pay at a grocery store, but you can't expect any different at a specialty bakery. You can watch the kitchen staff members do their thing behind the kitchen's windows while you place your order.

The cupcakes are dense and richly flavored, and the frostings are so smooth and thick, they taste as good as a piece of fudge. With flavors like white chocolate macadamia nut, peanut butter chocolate, red velvet and mint chocolate, Crave Cupcakes are truly crave-worthy. Handmade with care, each big-enough-to-share dessert is worth every penny of its $3.25 price tag, and people can't seem to get enough, ordering them by the dozen for everything from office parties to afternoon tea. The new... More »

Their last flick, Love and Mary, was shot in Houston, and about a baker; also, Harrison has had a sweet tooth for years. So the swanky little shop in Uptown Park is just a natural extension of their creative juices. If gluttony is a vice, so be it. But one bite of her granny's Nutella cupcake and you'll be... More »
