Description

This tiny old-timer is take-out only and located far from the tourist track. For lovers of conch, though, it's well worth a special drive. Ignore the disappointing conch fritters (with no discernable diced mollusk meat, they're more like conch-flavor fritters) and begin instead with conch salad -- big chunks of the lime-“. But the show's star is the cracked conch, available à la carte or in a bargain-priced dinner with three sides (one of which should be the outstanding fresh coleslaw). Unlike the rubbery-hard or, alternatively, overprocessed mushy conch at many restaurants, this joint's lightly battered deep-fried strips, perfectly pounded till tender yet still appealingly toothy, are proof that 40 years' experience does make a difference.

The description of the conch fritters is so far off, I have to wonder where this person got their fritters from before. I search high and low, in both broward and palm beach counties to find a decent conch fritter, and finally remembered there was a place in Miami. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. Their fritters has much more conch than any other place Ive tried they were more dense and very well seasoned. UNLIKE any of the almost 10 places Ive tried including so called conch experts. This place is old school;home made for goodness, not just to make a quick buck. they take pride in their fritters. Oh yes, and the price is right! 2.50 for 2 fritters. How can u beat that? Cup of Conch salad 5 dollars and change. One star taken off for the location. If youre not used to the area you may feel intimidated.
