Description

Aspirations run high at Compose, an intimate Tribeca eatery peddling a $120 prix-fixe, 10-course tasting menu that traverses the globe and flirts with techniques of experimental cuisine. Chef Nick Curtin apprenticed at Copenhagen"s Noma (voted best restaurant in the world by S.Pellegrino World's 50 Best Restaurants Guide 2011), and its influence is apparent. The options change frequently, but expect dishes like a spherical oyster that bursts in the mouth, poached lobster with cocoa butter, and a great Jonah crab with spring onion sauce. While the tranquil setting and delicious cocktails will please, you"ll likely depart underwhelmed by the execution, given the steep price. But fortunately you can opt for a much less expensive bar menu, including a nightly changing plate called "dinner,? which costs only $30 and comes with a glass of wine.
