Description

The atmosphere at Collins Pub, all dark woodwork and right angles, is upscale but homey. So is the food: the artichoke, spinach, and fresh Dungeness crab dip is on the creamy side, but with a hint of spice to kick it up a little, an effect redoubled by garlicky toast with melted-on Parmesan. To wash down all those flavors, Collins has one of the best beer selections you'll find in the downtown area. And to add to the place's cosmopolitan feel, there's frequently live jazz music on weekend nights.

Last night I was stuck in touristville on the waterfront and in dire need of a mellow place with good food and beer. We landed at Collins Pub and spent a few hours hanging out on their patio. Thanks Collins, you are a lifesaver.
