Description

At its best-and it can be very good-this new addition to Legacy's north side rides on surprising and creative bursts. Beautifully prepared swordfish was surrounded by robust and potentially intrusive sides: a bold ratatouille, intensely tart capers, citronette revved by soy. Yet chef Joshua Perkins makes it work, taming such flavors and wrapping them gently around the fish like a cashmina. And you find this sort of touch, up and down Coast's menu.

    It's one thing when servers show proper deference and reach in from the correct side. What sets the staff at Coast apart has little to do with such mannerisms. Although they are tidy, there's nothing special in their approach. But when we asked about a dish, these guys knew the details. When called upon to repeat specials, they did so without hesitation.
