Movie lover Paul Allen rescued and remodeled the Cinerama in 1999, and, after a second round of renovations in 2010, his investment seems worth every penny. Its largest curved screen—one of only three in the world still capable of accommodating the triple-projector Cinerama format—is roughly as wide as a mega-yacht. Most films are projected on a conventional flat screen, both from film (in 35 and 70mm formats) and 4K digital prints. A local institution since 1963, the Cinerama was this year yet again voted best best movie theater by our readers.
