Just a few steps down the street from Pakwan and Shalimar, this Tenderloin standby serves fast, cheap Indian grub in a setting which, while far from elegant, is at least reasonably clean and hygienic. The usual assortment of vindaloo, masala, and gosht variations fills the menu, but tandoori specialties are particularly good here, along with vegetarian dishes like aloo gobi and bengan bharta. Don't forget to get a few orders of garlic naan and a round of mango lassis.
There are so many South Asian restaurants in this section of the Tenderloin that some have taken to calling it (not very cleverly) the "Pak-Loin." Besides serving tasty, cheap curries, Chutney stands out for its slightly upscale ambience (well, as upscale as an order-at-the-counter Tenderloin restaurant can be).
