Description
It was only a matter of time before small casual restaurant chains began entering the mobile food fray. The Churro Mania truck is an offshoot of the mall locations popular in Miami (and Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and Colombia). Like those brick-and-mortar locations, the truck specializes in the addictive, donut-like namesake dessert: The fluted strips of dough are crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and smothered in liberal doses of sugar.
The truck, like the restaurant, offers a selection of filled churros and plain ones accompanied by a sauce ($3 to $5). The most popular order is "crispymania," a bagful of the classic sugar-cinnamon combo. Gooier options include "twistmania," which offers the same, but with a choice of dulce de leche, chocolate, sweetened condensed milk, guava, or cream cheese topping. Finally, "bigmania" goes for broke -- it's a jumbo-sized churro filled with any of the same. And that's all, folks, except for soft drinks and the chain's signature mini hot chocolate ($3). There's something to be said for succinctness.
