In the "eight great traditions" of Chinese cuisine, the food of northeastern China doesn't make the cut. Fortunately, the owners of Chou's Kitchen know a good thing when they cook it, and adventurous Valley diners (yes, there can be a language barrier at Chou's) won't be disappointed when sampling the eatery's less-familiar Chinese fare. When it comes to Dongbei cai, the food of northeastern China, this humble eatery in Chandler may be the only one of its kind in the Valley. Originally from the province of Liaoning, owners Tong Rizzo and Ping Chou serve a menu of unique and comforting dishes from a selection-packed, near-descriptionless menu. Given the language barrier here, the menu may be tough to navigate, but the welcoming service and wallet-friendly prices make it a culinary journey worth taking. Like dough? It's... More »
