Fort Lauderdale's independent Gateway movie theater might not be able to boast chef-prepared foods deliverable to high-back leather recliners like at the big mega-chain multiplex, but it's now possible to enjoy a specialty glass of wine or craft beer before walking over to your first-run indie flick. That's thanks to Chill Wine Lounge, the “deco glam” watering hole located next door to Gateway that opened in December 2012. Sure, the ultramodern chrome accents, over-the-top neon purple lighting, and floral motifs all detract a little from the gorgeous terrazzo flooring and generous wine and craft-beer menu (and is an iPad really necessary to take our drink orders when the bar is literally three feet away?) -- but who cares? This neighborhood spot is the perfect place to begin your night out to the movies or end an evening with great drinks.
