Description

This homegrown favorite gone international superstar with more than 1,400 restaurants was born in 1975 when its first location opened in a converted Dallas post office. The story goes something like this: Founder Larry Lavine got the inspiration for his successful business after attending a chili cook-off in Terlingua. Whatever the story, Chiliheads -- as employees have been dubbed -- will happily assist you in choosing an item from the phonebook-thick menu heavy on signature Big Mouth Burgers and Tex-Mex favorites. The chain owes its popularity to the burgers and Tex-Mex enjoyed in an environment chock-full of American kitsch. However, this site is a bit sleeker, with cool, modern lighting in the bar.
