Description

Eat your dessert first at this tiny East Village restaurant where the only things on the menu are sweet and full of sugar. Most people opt for the $14 prix fixe menu, which includes an amuse bouche, dessert of your choice and petit fours (a wine pairing is available for an additional $7). The style is a mix of French, Asian and American cuisines, meaning you might find a white chocolate mousse profiterole next to a poached pear with honey-thyme sorbet next to a steamed fig pudding cake. The wine list is short with an emphasis on champagne and dessert wines. The space is small, only 20 seats, with a clean, all-white color scheme and a long bar behind which the chefs carefully plate the desserts. The crowd is predictably mostly couples; partly because of the focus on desserts and partly because the restaurant doesn't accept parties larger than four people. It also doesn't take reservations, so expect to wait a good half hour to an hour during prime dining times.—Keith Wagstaff
