Chefs love the Cricket. Softball teams, musicians, Creekers, night creatures and neighbors all love the Cricket. Why? Because the Cherry Cricket is a classic burgers-and-beer kind of joint where the company is good, the coolers stocked and the burgers among the best in town. Great patio, too.

Which Denver restaurant would make the best use of forty pounds of cherries from Washington? A PR firm from that state is looking for an iconic restaurant deserving of the fruit...and coming up with t... More »
President Obama may have made the biggest splash during his two-day trip to Colorado at The Sink in Boulder, but Secret Service staffers knew where to go in Cherry Creek North for a late-night snack d... More »
DJ's Berkeley Cafe (this week's review) blows the current economic bell curve by being not just full, but overflowing at a time when most restaurant owners would strip naked and hang coupons from their ding-dongs just to get a few more people... More »
The Cherry Cricket (2641 East Second Avenue) — formerly Duffy's Cherry Cricket and, before that, Mary Zimmerman's Bar — didn't always have a door guy checking IDs and stamping hands at 5:30 p.m., or a forty-minute wait for a table on a Tuesday... More »
Cricket Burger !!!!
It's always a great place to go to for a beer and some really good (but bad for you) food.
The burgers are great. Order the Hot toddie if your looking for a nice warm drink.
There are great burgers, and then there are great burger bars. And the best of these is the Cherry Cricket. The kitchen not only turns out a mean green-chile cheeseburger, but also offers a plethora of variations for those poor, deluded souls who like to top their patty of grilled cow with something other than a strong hit of green chiles. And the bar itself not only provides appropriate beverages for those devouring the kitchen's best product -- appropriate in this case being a bottle... More »
We love green-chile cheeseburgers. We've eaten a lot of them in this city, and although none has been the green-chile cheeseburger of our dreams -- that exists only at the Owl in New Mexico -- the Cherry Cricket's green chile cheeseburger is darn good. Part of that can be attributed to the atmosphere in which it's served: aggressively anti-Creek. More can be attributed to the fact that the burger comes properly charred, and covered with those hot, sweet chiles. And perhaps most of it can be... More »
The Cherry Cricket makes not only the best green-chile cheeseburger in Denver, but one of the best in the country. Granted, that part of the country where people care about great green-chile cheeseburgers -- or who even know what a green chile is -- is fairly small. But the green-chile cheeseburger is big in the pantheon of immigrant America's most wonderful culinary inventions. At the Cricket, the chiles are properly roasted and cut into long strips that are then laid over the top of melted... More »
The town's chefs love the Cherry Cricket. Softball teams, musicians, barflies, night creatures and neighbors all love the Cricket. Why? Because the Cricket is a classic burger bar where the smoke is thick (unless you're in the new non-smoking section), the company good, the coolers stocked and the burgers among the best in town. With its dark wood, chrome-edged tables and long history as Cherry Creek's anti-Creeker hangout, it's the kind of joint all those chain-burger outfits want to be and... More »
