Description

As the Casino Cabaret, this venue was one of Five Points's legendary jazz clubs, dating back to the '30s; it brought in legends like Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Benny Goodman. Over the years, folks like B.B. King, Ray Charles and Ike and Tina Turner played there. When the folks behind Quixote's took over the space in 2003, they geared the music more toward Deadheads and jam bands. And when new owners took it over in 2010, they renovated the main floor, added a larger stage, relocated the soundboard and made other improvements. Musically, the focus has shifted more toward dubstep, electronica, hip-hop acts and DJs.

You wouldn't think a Tuesday night would be the hottest night for finding fresh music, but when Nicole Cacciavillano and her team got ahold of it over a year ago, it quickly gained popularity. Sub.Mission has garnered an unprecedented Tuesday following for new talent in Colorado at Cervantes'. Hosting producer competitions, battles and the occasional headliner (in the past, we've seen the likes of Caspa, Netsky and Sub.Mission's own residents), Cacciavillano and crew prove that no matter... • 2012 | Best Place to See Local DJs

To say that Cervantes' is a clubhouse would be using a loose tongue, but to say that it's the meeting point for all local talent would be totally spot-on. There's a show here almost every night, and you'll find local DJs mingling in the Ballroom or over on the Other Side, sipping drinks, sharing music or just taking in the scene. It's nice to see so much talent congregate in one room and get along: The sense of community in the local DJ scene borders on family ties, and the vibe at... More »
