Inside Cecil's, the lights are always dimmed except around the bar, which gives off a warming glow from the dark whiskey and other liquids against the rows of bulbs. The small television nook to the left of the bar, complete with a worn-in couch, is perfect for lazing the night away after a day in the high-rise salt mines down the street. It's easy to hide inside a darkened booth if that's your bag, or you can hold court out on the deck. To soundtrack your pool-sharking or dart-throwing ways, the jukebox oozes with old punk rock and other required Houston roots selections. For the thrifty-minded, Monday nights feature dollar wells and draw a huge, smoky crowd (and usually a grill or two) to that now-expanded deck.
