Description

This brightly lit new place doesn't know whether it wants to be a newfangled Naples-style pizzeria, or an old-fashioned Italian American restaurant. It compromises by doing both. The pies (one-person size) have a slightly stiff crust, and the toppings range from the conventional, to such unconventionalities as broccoli rabe, eggplant, capers, and soppressata. The standard margherita is a great pie in an unexpected neighborhood. Baked pastas are the best non-pizza choices, like the massive lasagna goosed up with extra meat in a sauce that masquerades as Bolognese. A floe of agreeable cheese cleanses all sins. Finally, the rarely seen fried calamari sandwich makes a spectacular appearance, drenched in sunny tomato sauce.
