    Super small place, good bands, cheap beers.

    It's away from the beach in a 'darker' area of what is otherwise a sun-drenched, sandy, surfy city (it's near the airport). Cheap beer, more dive-y atmosphere. My buddy's San Diego-based band Hotel St. George plays at Casbah all the time, and beyond frequently being filled with local indie talent, most of the bands worth seeing that come through SD (that aren't selling out arenas) are playing the Casbah.
