This original location is one of only two Carrabba's that are still family-owned. Here is where the franchise began. Old-world service and good homemade Italian cooking still reign, with pasta, veal, chicken dishes and pizzas holding their own. Veal scaloppini prepared a piccata (lemon and capers) or with marsala always please, as does the brick chicken, half a chicken cooked with rosemary and garlic sauce, flattened by a weight.
The big news this past week was that two Houston classics are about to get even bigger, starting with word from CultureMap that Carrabba's Italian Grill on Kirby -- the original location of the chain ... More »
Carrabba's recently invited me to come in and sample a meal. Although I have always been fond of the place, I hadn't been there in several years, and was anxious to see if the place had changed. I vi... More »
The pappardelle campagnolo ($16) at Carrabba's (3115 Kirby, 713-522-3131) showcases lots of basic Italian ingredients. Inch-wide, homemade pasta is mixed in a large bowl with sausage (a Carrabba's family recipe), onions, fresh tomatoes, sweet and... More »
At the long wooden bar near the entrance, a blond in a red jacket (Chanel?) and knee-high black boots is laughing hysterically at something her girlfriend in the cream-colored suede pants and cashmere sweater just said. Carrabba's [3115 Kirby... More »
At 8:25 p.m. on a typical Thursday evening in August, a somewhat humble reporter enters Carrabba's [3115 Kirby Drive, (713)522-3131]. Since it is a typical weekday evening, the foyer is packed with waiting customers. The bar area seems as... More »
Terrible dining experience! Doesn't deserve 1 star. We are now known as the first guests to get robbed at this original Carrabba's Italian Grill in Houston during daylight hours while their security team are not scheduled to keep customers safe in the 3-hour of 2-5pm.
We happened to get lucky to get stuck in traffic due to an 18 wheeler accident and make it to this Carrabba's at the perfect time to get robbed in daylight hours in this excliusoive Houston area.
The food taste so bad that after driving from Houston to Florida with no driver side window in rain and fog, we threw the food away in a rest stop garbage can.
Overpriced food, getting robbed and the Carrabba's management and coporate treating us like a U.S. statistic will keep us away from this restaurant chain. Never again. In the past week, nobody from the restaurant chain has called to check on us to see if we made it home alirght.
Please do yourself a favor to avoid a poor customer experience. Carrabba's is not worthy of 0 out of 10 rating.
