Tucked away behind a House of Pies on Westheimer just outside Loop 610, this inconspicuous piano bar is a true hidden gem. The doors underneath Caps' plain-looking sign open to reveal a cozy old-time lounge frequented by longtime regulars who cluster around the square bar. Every Tuesday through Saturday night, the three stalwart gentlemen of house band Tighten Up do take requests, but mainly just lay out classic tune after classic tune while patrons drink along or perhaps hop onto the small dance floor. Mondays change the formula a bit as bar-goers come onstage to perform karaoke-style in front of the Last Minute Band. Caps doesn't charge cover as long as you're willing to buy a beverage, but with a soulful cast of characters and over 20 years of history, it's easy to stick around and soak in the charm.

This place is a place that took me back to better times. The music is great and the people are wonderful. You have such a cute & sweetheart bar back. The bartender isn't bad to look at, either. The organ player takes you to a new world when he touches that keyboard. Plus he can be just a kind sweet Teddy Bear. I was tired, and had been feeling lonely. I came here the first time; they played the blues, sung some songs and I was asked to dance. I sat at the table and had some drinks when gave me back some of my old time cheer. Then, I hopped at the back table to get my tarot cards read to see if things were going to get better. Not only is the lonelines gone; I think I found my new home!!
